    msi wind

My personal choice would be the hp, it comes with xp sp2 and they are my favorite, more reliable in my opinion.

The only reason i can think of to get a netbook is mobility.
Mobility to me are 2 things – size and battery life

    Therefore:
Asus EEE PC wins the contest.
    There are several EEE PCs
    8.9 ” screen
    10″ screen
I picked 10″ because the keyboard is very very comfortable. Every other netbook has very small keyboards.
Average life of battery on EEE PC is 6.5 hours.
Average life of battery on most other netbooks of same price caliber is 1.5-2.5 hours.

I am not affiliated with ASUS :) ) but i did a lot of research and am now a proud owner. I bought mine on Amazon for school about 5 months ago, and it’s great. The battery lasts me for taking notes in 3 2 hours classes. It is perfect for me.
I actually optimized mine to last for 7 hours.
    I recommend this one:
its got 9.5 hours :) that’s even better, but it wasn’t available when I was in the market for a netbook.
    hope this helps.

    brand doesn’t matter.
tho i have developed a strong DISTASTE for any of the AUS EEE series. they seem to have uniformly terrible hard drives, limited RAM, and weak to moderate processors, yet cost no less than any other offering in the market with better hardware.

basically, just compare price to what you’re getting.
    how fast is the CPU?
    how much RAM ?
how much hard drive / HDD ?

they almost universally don’t have a CD or DVD drive.. are you ok with that?

they certainly have plenty of power for surfing the web, etc.. but if you plan to play any webgames, you’ll probably still run into trouble.

many of them use less common operating systems; Linux Ubuntu, the somewhat older windows XP, other flavors or linux are also common. i’ve heard that somebody got MAC OS/X running nice and smooth on one of the models, after some tinkering…and i also heard that Apple got very cranky about the whole thing too.

these things are essentially the new step between PDA phones and laptops. a lot stronger than the phone, but a lot weaker than the laptop. it is essentially a glorified web browser and email getter, with no serious power.

so overall, the big question is: are you ok with having an underpowered laptop with a half-sized screen?

if you’re ok with all that.. just go down to the store, or browse online.. compare prices and specs. pick what specs suit you best, or maybe even just what looks best to you.
