You’ll get better performance from Linux. Linux does much better than Windows on limited resources.

You might find that you like it.

LInux works best for this notebook. Battery life for a 4-cell is 2.8 hours and 6-cell is 3.5 hour.

If you’re comfortable with Linux, and all the programs you need come in a Linux version (or you can write your own), Linux will give you a little better performance than XP and a LOT better performance than Vista, for the same computer.

If you’re not comfortable with Linux (and don’t want to put in the effort), or if programs you need to use don’t come in Linux versions, and won’t run under Wine, you have no choice.

Or you can dual boot Linux over Windows. (Install Windows first, so you get a dual boot with GRUB).
