ARMflix asked:

Freescale talk about their latest products, including processor-processor-based Cortex-A8's i.MX51 ARM netbooks entering the last of Pegatron. Expected to be the super cool / super NETBOOK less able to work with the 720p video.

In the wikipedia article about Adobe Flash, they say Adobe is planning to release an ARM optimized version of Flash Player.

Not being able to run WIndows XP may not be much of a problem, but trying to play current Flash content might be, as Gnash and SWFDec do not support any features of the new Flash 10, and Flash 8 and 9 support is limited.

Bah, it can’t run Windows XP and Adobe’ implementation of Flash. That’s about it, your standard Netbook with a special interface ala Xandros’ work for the EeePC (or in this example Ubuntu) will run perfectly fine. It would be fine for what 90% of netbook users would need, just don’t market it as a “cheap notebook” it is a completely different set of uses. Personally I cannot wait to sell my soul to get a few of these to play with.

ARM based netbooks could be epic…ARM processors would significantly cut the costs of the machine, and lower the power draw. Imagine a day when you can pick up a netbook for 100 bucks! I sure wouldnt mind that, even if they performed worse than the Atom or the Nano.

The only downside is that ARM=/=x86, so you cant run most normal programs.
