MSI Wind (U100) Unboxing

sunetos asked:

One of the lucky few to get an MSI Wind today, so I 'm presenting Unboxing complete until the end of booting to Windows. I had a bit of fun getting this thing in Fry 's, where I had to convince their employees that they had a really in action. Once brought out all wanted one! Was lucky enough to get it because the batch is getting sent back to MSI for no reason given.

Speaking of those CDs; my GF bought a U100 from Wal Mart up in Canada and only got the drivers CD. She called up MSI and was told both the driver and XP recovery discs are blank media and that the user burns their own copies on to them. Is that true?

A netbook is a very small version of a latop, that uses a small, power efficient CPu such as the Intel Atom. They currently don’t have discrete graphic cards, only integrated, and are meant for things like browsing the internet, listrening to music, doing text work etc..

They aren’t laptops, because they are small, more power efficient, and can’t do things like play games or power high power apps.

you kept referring to the MSI wind as a lap top… but it’s a net book?

which is it? i’m a bit confused… and i looked at the specs and it can go up to 160GB with a six cell battery… this look pretty promising…. but i’m still comparing…

I think it’s the GMA 950, actually. At least, that’s what it says on the msi website.

theyre all generally the same, 10.2 inch screen. 1.6 Atom n270 CPU, intel GMA 945 video chipset, and the main diference between them is the hard drive sizes, and battery sizes (3,or 6 cell)
